April Fools! We Aren't Actually That Horrible!

Readers,

For those of you who have missed our April Fools comic, and still want to pretend to be fooled you can find it here. The comic is, of course, not ending, and David and I are not addicted to heroin, we can stop anytime we want.

This kind of slipped through the cracks, but several weeks ago A Lesson Is Learned was reviewed by a webcomic themed podcast show named Partially Clips. They have several interesting shows there, including a Penny Arcade interview, and an interview with the creators of Comixpedia.

In any case, enjoy the real "this will be decided in the traditional way" in which we meet the rats who live in all the nice things Caroline used to own. Don't worry! It will all come together soon! Though occasionally dissipate into a thousand rats.

Seriously, though...

The adventures continue.

I drew a cover for The Gamer's Quarter, a PDF magazine you can download! It's about video games, mainly the ones we were playing in grade school, which we look back upon to extrapolate post modern themes.

You can also get a physical copy of the 114-page, ad-free magazine for a very reasonable price at The Gamer's Quarter Shop.

There's an article in there I wrote about Doom and Super Mario 64 (pages 39-41). The GQ guys and gals did a really nice job with the layout and graphics, but added this (italicized by me) to the last line of my article: "The story of a game is its emotion, and this emotion resides in its tactile structures and reactive systems, not in its cutscenes."

ATTITUDE 3: The New Subversive Online Cartoonists is a new book by Ted Rall. Dale and I are interviewed within, along with a slendid array of our contemporaries. Please pre-order Attitude 3 through Amazon! Not only will you be a trend-setting early adopter, but pre-orders helps more copies of the book get into bookstores!

See the little falling book from episode 13 right underneath "Online Cartoonists"?

ALSO! Dale and I will appear with Ted Rall and some of the other Attitude 3 artists for a book signing at Kim's Mediapolis at Broadway and 113th Street in Manhattan for the evening of Thursday, April 27th!

Attitude 3 features: 1. Rob Balder: "Partially Clips" 2. Dale Beran and David Hellman: "A Lesson is Learned But the Damage is Irreversible" 3. Matt Bors: "Idiot Box" 4. Steven L. Cloud: "Boy on a Stick and Slither" 5. M.e. Cohen: "HumorInk" 6. Chris Dlugosz: "Pixel" 7. Thomas K. Dye: "Newshounds" 8. Mark Fiore: "Fiore Animated Cartoons" 9.
